"I just give up..."
|
It was Friday morning, the movers were coming, and we needed everything out by Sunday ... I looked at the functional trainer. I looked at all the cables and the bolts that had to be removed. Then I looked at the tools I had. I wanted to just roll up into a fetal position and cry. There was no way I was going to take this apart and have it make sense. But the chaos didn't stop there. Courtney was overwhelmed trying to pack up the studio for her Forensic Tales podcast. And in the middle of the night, Jagger woke up terrified. I tried to coddle him, but I couldn't stop him from crying. Courtney couldn't stop him from crying either. He was even screaming for Kona! But even our sweet six-year-old female golden retriever couldn't calm him down... I looked at Courtney, completely exasperated. "I just give up," I said. Normally, I go to sleep at 7 pm every night. I wake up every day at 3 am to meditate and stretch. My body thrives on a solid schedule. But my sleep tanked to four broken hours. During the mess, I forgot to drink water. And my breathing struggled. The next morning, I was chugging strong black coffee with no sugar or creamer just to survive. I was irritated. I was making mistakes and forgetting my train of thought. My immune system crashed. My nose got stuffy. Rats... The reason I'm sharing this with you is because of what I realized that morning. When you ignore the fundamental three dominos, breathing, water and sleep. You're making life way harder that it has to be. You're playing life on expert level. If you don't get the right breathing mechanics, you're going to struggle. If you aren't properly hydrated, you'll get headaches. And if you get inadequate sleep, your body will break down. I see this all the time with my LivFit 365 clients. You might be frustrated that you aren't hitting your daily calorie goals. But you can't build a healthy life on a broken foundation. You don't need a complex plan. You just need to master the basics first. But simple, isn't always easy.
PS: Friday and Saturday were two of the toughest days for my family. But the Chueys always find a way.... To Be Continued .. |
