The loudest guy in the gym finally faced reality

When Sonny walked into a room, everyone smiled.

He was the president of a massive storage service. He radiated positivity. His vibe just made you feel completely alive.

Well... almost always.

At the gym, his workouts absolutely crushed him.

He kicked serious @$$.

It was an incredibly intense sight to witness.

He and his trainer had these epic sweat sessions. When they dropped a heavy weight, the sound reverberated throughout the entire building. You could literally feel the floor shake.

Sonny was always drenched. He was dripping big puddles of sweat all over the place.

Meanwhile, my client Scott and I calmly performed our circuit on the other side of the gym.

Scott is a big guy. Naturally, he got plenty of judging looks from Sonny. I'm sure they thought we were just a couple of chumps.

We spent our time stretching, reaching, and doing focused core workouts. When you're a big guy, doing light work can feel totally wrong.

Scott wiped his brow and asked if I really thought this calm approach was going to work. He pointed across the room at the heavy lifters.

He wondered how he would ever build superhero muscle by just reaching and lifting light weights.

I looked Scott right in the eye. "Trust the process. Your body would look better than it ever has.

Scott trusted me. He leaned into the program. Eventually, Scott lost 32 pounds. His body transformed completely.

And while Sonny kept hitting things and dropping weights, his body didn't change at all. He stayed exactly the same despite all that dripping sweat.

Then, one fateful day... Sonny's trainer was late again. Rats.

We started talking.

He asked if I would train him.

I told him he was in.

But he still didn't question his own training style. He just thought he needed a more reliable guy to count his reps.

That all changed the day we did his initial assessment. I took a picture of him from the front, side, and back.

I handed him the phone. The color drained from his face.

Wait until you hear what he said to me next. I will share his exact words on Saturday.

P.S. Courtney and I just got back from a trip to Las Vegas. Jagger really missed us while we were gone. And Kona made us promise to never, ever leave again. It is good to be home.
